Gambling Addiction: Work Relationship Problems
Gambling Addiction: Work Relationship Problems
Gambling is actually the wagering of something of worth on some occasion with an unpredictable outcome with the intention of winning something else for some other value. Gambling therefore requires three components to be present: risk, consideration, and a payout. These three things should all be kept in mind by anyone who is considered to have a gambling tendency. Then too, there are the factors of chance and luck which are very much part and parcel of any gambling venture.
Although many people think that gambling is simply about winning money, this is not the case. Gambling can be problematic for a lot of people, as it can involve a great deal of emotion. It has also been found out that many problem gamblers can not even concentrate on the game they are playing!
One thing that problem gamblers always have in common is the fact that they are always looking for opportunities to make money. The simplest kind of gambling is betting on card games like the lottery or state lottery games. The problem arises when the bettor loses his wagers because he does not have enough inside information on the teams or players of the winning team or player. There are many instances where a person has lost a lot of money because he believed so much that he had a golden opportunity. A lot of times, problem gamblers go back to their casino gambling to try their luck again at the same place where they had last lost a bet.
Problem gamblers may not only face losing their bets but also ending up with a poor work performance at work. This is because the gambler has let himself fall into the hands of the problem. There have been cases where the person has been fired from their job because of problems associated with gambling. This is something that the pathological gamblers know very well as many gambling addicts also work in the office environment.
Work relationship problems are also another problem that may be associated with compulsive gambling. Compulsive gamblers are often those people who are constantly seeking opportunities to win. When this happens, it can lead to some complicated work performance issues. Most employees find it difficult to deal with these kind of relationship problems as there is already a lot of tension and conflicts within the working environment due to the fact that work performance may be affected.
Compulsive gamblers also have tendencies towards alcoholism and drug abuse after they have a big win. This may happen especially if a gambler tends to gamble more after losing a big wager. Since these gamblers have a hard time controlling their impulse to gamble after losing a big wager, it can cause them to end up with substance abuse problems. Work performance can be affected if a compulsive gambler becomes an alcoholic and even end up having a criminal record due to the fact that he is using drugs.
